Championing Democracy
in the United States
and around the World
Dedicated to promoting values, principles, and projects that support thriving democracies
In recent years, there has been a dramatic increase in anti-democratic speech and behavior in the United States and an erosion of democratic institutions around the world.
- The United States is currently facing a political and constitutional crisis as Donald Trump's 2024 re-election campaign is being challenged by multiple lawsuits asserting that his sustained actions to overthrow the results of the 2020 election disqualify him from holding office under Section 3 of the Fourteenth Amendment to the U.S. Constitution (US News and World Report).
- Between 2007 and 2021, the number of countries classified as liberal democracies—that is, electoral democracies in which citizens enjoy individual and minority rights, are equal before the law, and the actions of the executive are constrained by the legislative and the courts—dropped from 44 to just 33—a 25% drop in just14 years (Our World in Data).
In his Gettysburg address, Abraham Lincoln called on us to dedicate ourselves "to the great task remaining before us . . . that government of the people, by the people, for the people, shall not perish from the earth." There is now an urgent need for as many people as possible—whether liberal or conservative, Democrat or Republican, Independent or Libertarian—to speak out in support of the fundamental values, principles, and institutions at the heart of democracy here in the United States and around the world.
As the 2024 race for the Presidency heats up, our singular focus is to support efforts to exclude Donald Trump's name from appearing on ballots for the 2024 Presidential election under Section 3 of the Fourteenth Amendment. To accomplish this, there are several things you can do to add your voice to the growing movement to disqualify Donald Trump from ever holding office again.
